The Celtic Vest

Celticvest1

Over the weekend I started something new- a quick project. This is the Fleece Artist Celtic Vest in the Mermaid colorway. It's basically the Lady of the Lake Jacket done as a vest, with a different yarn. (The construction is essentially the same and the stitches are the same.) It's working up very quickly. What you see here is the back and one of the fronts. I started with a provisional cast on instead of a regular cast on. I also added 10 more stitches to the length of the vest because the original design is only 19 inches long. I'm starting to freak out a bit about whether or not I'll have enough yarn to finish it. I could have weighed the balls of yarn before I started the first front and then weighed them again before the second front, but I didn't - apparently I like to live dangerously. (Although honestly, frogging the vest and redoing it isn't really that much of a big deal - it's a pretty fast knit.)

Interesting. The construction reminds me of a crochet vest my great-aunt taught me years and years ago.

Very cute vest! I really like the pattern. I never wear vests as I do not know what to wear under them. Cannot wait to see the finished product!
