A Public Service Announcement

When you're head isn't really thinking straight and you have no short term memory at all, don't dye fiber.

If I had been thinking, I would have remembered that wool felts and maybe not stirred so much. I wasn't thinking and now I have 6 ounces of blue felt rope. I've got an idea or two about how to use it, so maybe it won't be a complete loss, but it certainly didn't work out how I'd originally planned.

You can maybe still spin it depending on how felted it is - I am a very beginning spinner and had some dyed merino (everyone tells me that merino is tough to spin)that was partially felted. It spun very easily (of course being a beginner I got art yarn, some thick and thin). It just requires some pulling (pre-drafting) apart. Good luck!

I would use it on my loom as an "unspun" something - maybe a placemat or tablerunner, depending on how much you have. Use it as the weft. You could possibly knit it as a novelty scarf with big needles. Not throw it away!

At our guild sale last week, someone had beautiful hot pads crocheted with felted roving. They were lovely and quite thick, so they would protect the table from heat very well.
